On your wedding day, arguably the most important words that will come out of the mouths of you and your
spouse are your wedding vows. Your wedding vows will become a part of both your lives, as it is the
expression of your commitment to each and love for one another. Your wedding vows are undoubtedly
special to both of you and will stay with you for a lifetime.
If you choose to write your wedding vows yourself, it is therefore important that you write your wedding
vows in such a way that it says and relays what you are feeling and the love you feel for your spouse.
Chances are you are among the many persons who have never written wedding vows, and you are not sure how
to begin, or how to get their thoughts and feelings down on paper effectively. Here are some ideas you can
use as a guide to help you to put your thoughts and heart felt feeling into your wedding vows:
* Along with your fiancée, decide on what you both expect for your wedding vows, things like how much
is said and how long it can be.
* Wedding vows should focus on the positive.
* Take some time to think carefully about the things you admire about your spouse. Write down about ten
such things and include in your list, those unique things they do or say that you love. So you can write
sentences that begin "I love it when you" or "I love you because".
* Next you will write down what your intentions are and a bit about and what you commit to do and be.
* What do you intend to call your spouse. You can use the widely used "wife", "husband", "love" or "dearest".
These words are powerful words that convey your deep feelings and affection.
* Express your ideas in a flowing manner.
* Remember this is a very serious statement of your feelings and commitment, so treat your wedding vows as
such. You can share your written vows with your spouse, and get a feel what you both are expressing and
see how the vows match up. You can help each other in creating the vows you both will love.
* Decide with your spouse how both of you will convey your wedding vows. You can keep your wedding vows on
some cue cards and say them aloud to each other, so you know how they sound.
* Practice your wedding vows before the wedding day. Take every opportunity to practice.
* Stay away from anything that will bring back sad memories and express with your wedding vows the love, joy
and happiness you feel.
Always remember that your wedding vows must be unique and special. The words that you speak as your wedding vows
will be remembered by all who are present to hear them and especially to your spouse. Your spouse will certainly
remember the wedding vows for a long time.
What you say will remain with your partner forever. So spend the time and work on your wedding vows, try your
utmost best to express your true feelings. Remember you will be talking to the person you love and are about
to marry, so you make your love shine through.
When the big day comes try to remember how you had practiced your vows, take deep breaths and say what you have
written. Keep in mind at that moment you and your spouse are in love, no matter what your wedding vows are, they
will always be cherished because they came from your heart.
