Buying a wedding gift can be a challenge for guests attending a wedding and that is where a wedding registry comes in. Often times different guests end up purchasing for the couple the same or similar gifts. So there are married couples that have three of four blenders or five toasters. To eliminate the possibility or at least reduce it many couples are opting for a quality wedding registry.

By using a wedding registry you will be letting your guests and well wishers know what it is you can do with when starting your lives as a married couple. By definition a wedding registry is a service that is offered by stores to couples allowing them to list some items in the store that will aid those that come to buy a gift from the listing the couple has.

It will not be hard to find a store that offers a quality wedding registry service, as there are a whole lot of them around. You can find one either on the Internet or just around the corner in your neighborhood. So when you go in to sign up for the service, be sure you allow for your guests to make purchases online and in the store, so that they will have the option.

It does not matter if you decide to use the services of a wedding registry store near you or a one that is on the Internet, there some things you should do when setting up the registry.

Once you are at the store, request a wedding registry form to get a full list of items that they have on the registry. You will do the same for an online store. Once you have received the listings, you must take your time and look through the items on the list and choose the brands that you prefer and other item that you will reconsider on.

After you have decided, you will check off the items on the list that you would definitely like to receive. Depending on the item you can also put a number beside the item to signify the amounts of that item you would like to receive. Once you are done simply return you list to the customer service person at the store or if you are online just submit the list.

When creating your wedding registry, here are some things you should keep in mind.

* Have your wedding registry with stores that are well known and have a wide variety of items.

* Try to register with a national chain store gift registry, or include them in your list of registries. This way your friends who live at distance from you, can make their purchases.

* Inform your guests some time in advance about your wedding registry. Many recommend at least three months notice is good enough.

* When choosing gifts for your registry, it is a great idea to opt for gifts that have a wide range in prices, so that you can meet the pockets of your guests. Anything overpriced or expensive may not be viewed well by your guests.

* Use a store that will allow you to offer your guests the ability to purchase items in the registry online and offline. Therefore those guests that do not live near you can do their shopping easily.

* Clearly write down your name and that of your spouse. There might be guests that would like to add a personal touch to your gift, so they will need to know how to properly spell your name.
