Wedding DJs
|
When you have your wedding reception it is advisable that you have a good wedding DJ to make the event
pleasing and fun. And especially if you plan to have dancing at the reception, a good DJ will make the
moments entertaining.
One of the major benefits you will get from hiring a DJ is that all the songs are played as you know them,
you can be sure that the songs for your first dance will be played accordingly without any delays or
mishaps. You are also more likely to get much more variety in sound with a DJ. You can also make special
requests from the DJ for a certain song to be played at a certain time during the reception.
One of the concerns about DJ is that a bad one can kill the elegant atmosphere you had planned for your
wedding reception, so you must hire wisely. A DJ typically does not have as much leverage to improvise and
set the theme or mood of the evening.
So what exactly is that your DJ be planning in the weeks or months leading up to your wedding. It is
certainly not likely that they will just show up at your wedding and are ready to go. You certainly will
not know what it is they do to adequately prepare.
Normally, your DJ will meet you during the early stage of things, and you both will get a feel of each other
and get to know what you are looking for. Once you've decided that they are the DJ that you want, then the
work begins. Your DJ would make note of your date and begin working on preparations. About two months before
to your wedding, they would meet you again and start going over details with you. If your DJ wants to meet
you for the consultation and selection of songs only a week before your wedding, tell them that is not
possible. They should be more dedicated as this is your special and the most important day of life.
A professional DJ will do the following in preparation for your wedding reception months before your event:
* They are well informed as to your itinerary and wedding party names so they can review and make sure
there are no issues and that transitions from one thing to a next have a natural flow to them.
* They would be in touch with you regarding any last minute changes you might have.
* They make sure that they have songs according to your requirements. Almost every DJ prepares a CD
with all the selected songs given so that there is no delay at the big day.
* Most DJs now will work on music programming on their laptop and will prepare just the right combination of
music for social hour and dinner ahead of time. For your dance selections, they may prepare a play list so
all the songs you want to hear are easily accessible and for quick reference.
* They will make sure their equipment is ready and load up just the right pieces for your reception and bring
the necessary backup in case of emergency.
Typically your wedding might require about 5-10 hours of preparation event prior to the day of your
wedding. One should always consult the DJ he is planning to hire that how much time they require
for preparing everything for the wedding; you can be greatly surprised at the differences between
rookies and true professional wedding DJs.
